In this class we will ask ‘what is philosophy?’ in the hopes of defending the importance of this discipline for the individual and society. In this endeavor we shall trek through the history of philosophy while unpacking some of the major issues and problems in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, logic and politics. Furthermore we will address the perennial problems of the good life, personal identity, authenticity and social responsibility.

freedom
Satre talks about how we are condemned to be free. He says we are imprisoned because nothing says what we are supposed to do. I completely disagree with this. It's because nothing says what were supposed to do that makes us free, not imprisoned by it. Were able to make our own image of humanity. Condemned makes it seem like we are cursed with it. Satre says we are condemned with choice because he'd rather be told what he's supposed to do. He wants to be given purpose. I say make your own purpose.
