Thank you, Jean-Paul Sartre, for getting me out of my funk! Lately I’ve been in what I would like to call a “funk” and have just been really unhappy about the way things are going in my life. I grew up in New Orleans and decided to stay here to attend Loyola because of the excellent music program. I did this knowing that I could not have the same experience as my other friends with moving to a new city and living out on my own. Like Sartre said, we are condemned to be free and where I went to college was my choice. I absolutely love Loyola and I am learning so much, but I sometimes get very jealous of my friends who live on their own in a brand new city and are out of their parents’ houses. Learning about Sartre has made me realize that I cannot complain because I am the one who made the decision.
What does Sartre say about regret?
