In this class we will ask ‘what is philosophy?’ in the hopes of defending the importance of this discipline for the individual and society. In this endeavor we shall trek through the history of philosophy while unpacking some of the major issues and problems in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, logic and politics. Furthermore we will address the perennial problems of the good life, personal identity, authenticity and social responsibility.

ethical aesthetic or religiously in love?
In class, when talking about a girl and boy who could not be together, the question was asked what stage in life would the two lovers be in? The aesthetic would realize there are more fish in the sea, the ethical would love the other but accept the fact that the two could not be together and the religious would believe that with god all things are possible and they would be together. But what would happen if one was aesthetic and the other was religious? Would there be a point where the religious would give up or would the aesthetic realize the hurt their causing?
