Throughout this entire year of philosophy we have learned about dozen of philosophers, and all of this different points of view that they believe. Every philosopher that we have studied has been significant enough that around a thousand or 500 years later, they have made themselves important enough to study in our philosophy class. With all of these philosophers so sure and concrete on their beliefs it makes it extremely difficult to choice a side or one philosopher as correct. If one of these philosophers is right, that means that the dozens of highly influential and significant historic figures were completely wrong. It makes me think very hard about how obscure and uncertain we all are about the universe, the world, and our purpose as human beings. Many of us believe that the technological advancement could be the destruction of our planet, and many believe the opposite. How can you know the answer to questions like this, and how would you go about solving them. It just really intrigues me that in a world where we know so little about our purpose, how so many people believe they know so much.

  1. Tom, I like what you had to say in this post. I have also brought up the question of which philosopher is right and which one is wrong, but we will never know the answer because it is philosophy. There are many people who live their lives according to the beliefs of these men, it would be amazing to actually figure out who was right and wrong. Also I like what you said at the end of ur blog, philosophers back then and philosophers now still try to know our true purpose. Through every theory every philosopher has come up with are we supposed to believe what they say is truth?
