Happiness
The universal goal to which all mean live their lives for is happiness. Some feel it is not wanting for anything, respect, power, or physical pleasure. At the end of the day all men either want pleasure, wealth, position, power, or recognition. I believe these are things that, like the soul, transcend the physical realm. Just like u can contain light and direct it, I feel it is the same for the soul and happiness is a blurry object to which the soul aims. For all of the above stated have been in nearly every culture for centuries making them similar to the soul. I liken the soul to a stream of light that accompanies flesh for a limited time in order to align itself correctly. We use the earthly constructions of happiness to find true freedom.
