In this class we will ask ‘what is philosophy?’ in the hopes of defending the importance of this discipline for the individual and society. In this endeavor we shall trek through the history of philosophy while unpacking some of the major issues and problems in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, logic and politics. Furthermore we will address the perennial problems of the good life, personal identity, authenticity and social responsibility.

Philosophy is no help to God
Philosophical theory on the existance of God is ridiculous. Even those who bank on God's existance would scoff at the idea, seeing as they usually reject anything mildly logical in an arguement, even go their God's existance. They mostly use Biblical references as their main pillar in an arguement. This, as we discussed in class, is just a kind of circular reasoning by saying God exists because the Bible says so. One philosopical theory is that all things are set in motion by another thing in motion, but that this infinite chain of motions had to begin with one great beginner of all motions. Yet, the last part of that theory deems the first part impossible. I just think that the ship that is Theology has sunk, and Philosophy shouldn't try and fish it out. If we want real answers of any worth at all we should focus Philosophical work on valid questions. Which would be anything besides the existance of God.
