In class, we talked about how your self was split. I feel like this is something that many people have known. I do not think that your self being split is being two-faced. I feel like it is more about your emotional self and rational self. They are two completely things. If you are thinking rationally, a person should not be able to be emotional. There has to be a split for us to function. It is not necessarily having a mental disorder or a split personality. There is a difference between a split personality and having a split self. A split self has the same personality while the split personality is two different personalities.
In this class we will ask ‘what is philosophy?’ in the hopes of defending the importance of this discipline for the individual and society. In this endeavor we shall trek through the history of philosophy while unpacking some of the major issues and problems in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, logic and politics. Furthermore we will address the perennial problems of the good life, personal identity, authenticity and social responsibility.

Split Personalities

Objectively, you and the other are reflected in yourself and the other's self subjectively and in there, they can even talk to each other. However, you and the other also need to have independent confirmation for those subjective assumptions. Independent emotional confirmation or independent rational confirmation are two ways to do so and the one often doesn't leave room for the other.
