In this class we will ask ‘what is philosophy?’ in the hopes of defending the importance of this discipline for the individual and society. In this endeavor we shall trek through the history of philosophy while unpacking some of the major issues and problems in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, logic and politics. Furthermore we will address the perennial problems of the good life, personal identity, authenticity and social responsibility.

Virtuous People
Virtuous people according to Aristotle are dong charitable acts that really only "count" if they are doing them purely for others and not for selfish reasons. Basically the act is not enough someone has to have the right genuine thought and motives behind it. Which made me question that if doing just the act of a virtuous person would be enough. If you have even do the acts that doesn't necessarily mean that you could change as person which came as a shock to me because I thought committing the virtuous acts would eventually lead to a change of mind or heart. I also ended up analyzing myself and realized that a lot the charity events I've done or acts that I've thought were virtuous really didn't matter because i was mostly just standing there either bored or waiting for it to end. I don't know if acts that are considered virtuous repeated many times would lead to a virtuous mind but I don't think it would hurt to try.
