Happiness is a funny thing. It is something different to everyone, and it constantly changes for each person. Happiness can not be taught; it really has to be achieved. Happiness is not just having lots of money or material wealth. A person can have all the material wealth in the world and still not be happy. Any person can achieve happiness, but it takes a special person to have almost eternal happiness. Happiness is difficult to describe, and I think it fits a philosophical question perfectly.
In this class we will ask ‘what is philosophy?’ in the hopes of defending the importance of this discipline for the individual and society. In this endeavor we shall trek through the history of philosophy while unpacking some of the major issues and problems in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, logic and politics. Furthermore we will address the perennial problems of the good life, personal identity, authenticity and social responsibility.

Eternal happiness is an interesting subject because many world religions discuss this principle. These religions usually point out that eternal happiness is only achievable through absolute virtue
