In this class we will ask ‘what is philosophy?’ in the hopes of defending the importance of this discipline for the individual and society. In this endeavor we shall trek through the history of philosophy while unpacking some of the major issues and problems in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, logic and politics. Furthermore we will address the perennial problems of the good life, personal identity, authenticity and social responsibility.

Today in class we talked about Kant and what Kant views as good. In Kant's mindset the only thing that is good, is good will. We also talked about Heteronomy(outside law) vs autonomy(self law). For someone to actually have good will it must autonomic, or come from one self. I agree with this view because goodwill must come from inside ones person. If someone is doing good deeds, or resisting their urges simply because of the consequences or the outcome then it is not goodwill it is merely someone looking out for themselves and their benefits. This is more or less being selfish then someone actually having the intentions or mindset of goodwill.
