In this class we will ask ‘what is philosophy?’ in the hopes of defending the importance of this discipline for the individual and society. In this endeavor we shall trek through the history of philosophy while unpacking some of the major issues and problems in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, logic and politics. Furthermore we will address the perennial problems of the good life, personal identity, authenticity and social responsibility.

Color Blind
Last friday in class we talked about different categories of perception. The question came up "Are we color blind?" A person may live their life not knowing they are color blind because they have always looked at life through these eyes and they have nothing in comparison. I have always thought about the idea of one persons perception of purple may be different than another persons perception of purple. This led to the idea that we can only experience the world through a particular group of categories: time and space. Everything we do involves time and space. Time and space both shape our perceptions. It is impossible for us to even think of something that does not involve time or space.
