Evolution

Today I was walking in the park and I saw a squirrel smartly gathering nuts, digging a hole, and burying the said nuts in the hole. This made me wonder about my biology class and how we are talking about evolution and the origin of life. In biology my professor talked how about certain animals are all derived from a similar species and in the beginning there was a single cell which evolved into all the organisms we have today. I actually didn’t think about philosophy until I started asking myself questions that I coulddn't find in my biology textbook. For example, during the evolution process what made the human race superior, at least in thought, above all other organisms? And how come we don’t have another species similar to us in thought but different in other attributes? Like the Galapagos finches they all came from the same species of finch then over time and separation became their own species so they couldn’t mate anymore. This is how it for many animals. The sun bear and the raccoon also have a similar ancestor and they obviously cannot mate. But even though the human race has at times in history been separated from any other humans than the ones in their area, someone from England has always been able to mate with someone in Indonesia. What makes us so special? How come humans are the only ones who developed reflective thought over billions of years if we all came from the same single cell organism?!
